PTO EVENTS & ACTIVITIES
(See PTO Calendar for exact dates.)
Meet the Teacher Night: Held in August, before school starts. This event officially kicks off the new school year.
Room Parents: We solicit room parents for each teacher and offer suggestions for organizing and planning room parties.
Buzz Book: A voluntary collection of students’ phone numbers and addresses by grade level and teacher. Be on the lookout for a flyer requesting information. If you don’t want your child’s information shared, it won’t be!
Fall Fundraiser: Boogie for Becky-David, our biggest fundraiser of the year, occurs in September. Students collect pledges and enjoy a fun filled evening of dancing and exercise. This fundraiser helps fund our Teacher Grants. The teachers use this “grant” to buy much needed materials for their classroom that the district does not provide.
Scholastic Book Fairs: This fundraiser is used to encourage our students to keep reading. We hold two book fairs each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. The Fall Book Fair is the larger of the two, usually with a Grandparents Day included. PTO gives the teachers and school librarian 50% of our profit to buy much needed books for their classroom and the library. Each class is scheduled to visit the book fair sometime during school hours. Students can purchase books during this time. The fair is open for a couple of evenings for purchases by the general public. Books, posters, and reading related items are sold to our students, staff, and relatives.
Spirit Wear: Spring and fall shirts, etc. sold to show our school spirit. You’ll find t-shirts, and miscellaneous other items for sale.
Movie Night: A Friday night family event including a newly released movie, free popcorn and soda with each kid’s admission…parents admission is always FREE! Additional items can be purchased during the show. Held in the cafeteria – typically we have 100+ attending!
Spring Fling: Our annual Spring Carnival that is typically held the first Saturday in May. It includes games, inflatables, a cake walk, a food court, and of course the infamous dunking booth. Music performances occur throughout the day. Teachers work this event every year so it is a great way to catch up with them and tell them what a great job they’re doing!
Teacher Appreciation: A full week event is held the first or second week in May including a breakfast, luncheon and small gifts to show our appreciation. We will ask parents to bring in a dish to share with the teachers and to help assemble and distribute gifts during the course of the week as well as during the holidays.
Trivia Night: A time for a little “adults only” fun and games. Typically held in early spring on a Saturday night. We just had our 2nd annual event and it was a tremendous success.
Blood Drive: A Red Cross Blood Drive held in the fall and the spring.
Shop N Drop: A night out in December for parents. Drop the kids off at school for a night of food, games, movies, and crafts. The cost to participate is a toy or gift card donation that is in turn given to Becky-David families for the holidays.
MOCHIP: A free child ID program. Parents bring their children in for an ID process. For each child, the parent will receive a photo ID, DNA and finger prints, and a CD containing all pertinent information that is compatible with the State Amber Alert System.
Target Guest Card: Now you can support Becky-David just by shopping with your Target Guest Card. Through School Fundraising, Target will donate an amount equal to 1%* of your qualifying Target Guest Card purchases to the eligible K-12 school of your choice. Schools receive their donations twice a year, and funds accumulate all year long. If you already have a Target Guest Card, you can designate Becky-David by selecting the link ( Target Guest Card) or call 1-800-316-6142.
